Have we met? If we haven’t congratulations, I’m quite annoying!

I mean if you’re one that easily gets cramped by “talkers,” not exactly open to calculated humor, you might as well banish me after a minute in your presence, your majesty!

I use flattering terms while speaking about myself… Ask the dead! All my exes resigned with something in mind, that I’m the best they will ever get… I made sure I was heard!

I’m not only gorgeous, I’m smart… This breakup is mostly a disservice to you. You needed me, babe! You needed my genius brain for your future off springs!” that’s my usual departing verse.

So when you ever meet me, don’t cringe when you hear me convey meaty mouth-watering stuff about myself and my work! I yap a lengthy about my passion- writing… A case in point the love of my life, my recently published book, Mine Yours, yet to be an international best-seller. (I said I’m my own publicist, lol)

Congratulations on not having my contact too. I overwhelm folks with commentary about my novels, the celebrities that take interest in them and sometimes snaps of receipts from the highest bidders- yes I do that! It’s my Whatsapp!

Or it is simply self promotion- purposefully tooting my trumpet for brand positioning…

Owning the target consumer’s mind is not just about product pricing, messaging and packaging, it zeros down to communication Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)… what you do to you cause the market to think about you, to remind them of you periodically so you stand out in this world of immense competition… Building your personal brand in the industry to elevate perception and credibility!

Put it that, self-promotion is simply the ability to confidently talk about our skills to relevant people with a purpose of showcasing our competence, attract opportunities, build relationships and most importantly erect our brands as experts in different fields.

Its insanely incredible when you step out of your comfort zone, screw the fright of coming off as arrogant among friends, and advocate for yourself especially in the workforce… Tell people what you do! Post the results and achievements… This attracts the right people to elevate your career.

Because just like in organizations when we’re quizzed on what we’re bringing to the table…taking delight in exhibiting our skills is how we educate people about how unique and well versed in a field we’re.

Being able to talk about your talents is most likely to secure you that job and opportunity that you’ll rightly thrive in, informing people what you do and highlighting that you’re the best freaking person for the gig is not boasting!

It’s doesn’t make you patronizing or annoying especially to the right market…

For when you luxuriate in what you’re good at, by consistently posting about your business for instance, it pushes you to work harder…obviously I won’t be throwing Mine Yours at your faces forever, I’ve to come up with new content to stay admissible… Savoring your skills will help you segment the right crowd for your business… Notice how you get a few reactions on biz posts? Not all your friends are beneficial.

So first off, hone your craft… suck long enough to be good!

And when you feel confident about your work, brag about it- Heck! You won’t be identified as self centered or a narcissist, you’ll be one that adds value.

When it comes to content, the best marketers know that self promotion is good! - Author: Kieran Flanagan
